The view at right shows Earth from a distance of 10,000 km above the surface. You are directly
above 38:08:37N and 76:38:09W, the latitude and longitude of Coles Point,
located in the heart of the Northern Neck of Virginia. The Northern Neck is
located at directly at the center of this view of Earth. For reference, locate the
familiar Florida peninsula on the East Coast of the United States; proceed North along the
East Coast just past the Outer Banks of North Carolina to the Chesapeake Bay. The Northern
Neck is located between the Potomac and the Rappahannock Rivers which are both tributaries
to the Chesapeake Bay. See the MAP PAGE and the DIRECTIONS PAGE for more specific geographic references....or
simply scroll to the bottom of this page where you can see an even closer view of the
Northern Neck taken from only 744 km from Earth (at this distance,
it's almost easy to pick out the Law Office of Susan Godman Rager, P.C.).
Note: 1000 km = a
little over 621 miles! |

At 744 km above the
Earth's surface, you can clearly see the jagged coast of the Outer Banks of North Carolina
along the East Coast, and just to the North, the familiar outline of the Chesapeake Bay.
As you enter the Bay, the third river on the left is the Rappahannock, and the
fourth river on the left is the Potomac. The peninsula which lies between them
is the Northern Neck of Virginia. In this age of exact and precise navigation, you may
want to scroll even further down this page to see what the Northern Neck looks like at a
mere 100 km from the surface. At this distance, it may be possible to pick up
sounds of sea gulls, waves on the shore, and gentle breezes.
Note: 1000 km = a
little over 462 miles! |

From a mere 100 km
above the Northern Neck, you may wonder why you'd need more than a parachute
just to drop in on us and say hello. We're located in the center of this view of Earth's
surface shown here. In this view, you can clearly see the outline of this special area of
Virginia. If you think you'd like a closer view, please visit the MAP PAGE and remember to check for DIRECTIONS.
Note: 100 km = a little
over 62 miles! |
